CT Presidential Poll: Obama ahead by 21 points. Senator Lieberman would be drag on GOP ticket.

A just released Quinnipiac University Poll shows Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama [IL] "Crushing" GOP Presidential Candidate Sen. John McCain [AZ] if the election were held today.

"Illinois Sen. Barack Obama crushes Arizona Sen. John McCain 56 - 35 percent among Connecticut likely voters, topping the Republican among every sub-group except Republican voters." according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

A look at the Hampton Primary results show that if the combined party votes were transfered to a preference for the Party nominee the result would be 66% for Obama and 34% for McCain. This result may be different when unaffiliated voters are factored in. Unaffiliated voters did not have the opportunity to show a preference on Primary day. Democratic Voter turnout outnumbered Republicans 2:1 in this election. Will it be the same in November? Time will tell.

Link to poll below the fold.

Hampton Vote to be Audited

Thursday, November 15, 2007

The Secretary of the State's Office announced yesterday that three towns in the Quiet Corner area will be included in the random audit of polling places from this November's election. Hampton, Canterbury and Woodstock are included in the 70 precincts.

From the Secretary's office:

"As required by Public Act 07-194, An Act Concerning the Integrity and Security of the Voting Process, ten percent of the polling precincts used in the election are subject to an audit. All told, 695 polling precincts were used on November 6th, meaning that 70 precincts will have their election results audited. (There are recounts in 39 towns comprising 149 precincts. Those precincts are exempt from audit selection.)
"These audits play a crucial role in helping guarantee the integrity and security of our elections," said Secretary Bysiewicz. "For the first time since the 1930's Connecticut voters went to the polls and cast their ballots with a new form of voting machinery. It is important voters have faith that their vote will be recorded accurately and that's why the independent audits are so vital."

Continues...

We relocated from Rhode Island to Hampton after being lured by the beautiful setting, the prospect of experiencing small town, rural New England life, and the opportunity to do some vegetable gardening. Hampton has been everything we envisioned, and more.

Now that we have had a chance to live in the community for a period of time, I am interested in becoming involved in local government. I think the Selectmen -Town Meeting format of government is an exciting privilege that we enjoy here in Hampton and I am anxious to participate in a significant way. My attendance at several town meetings has highlighted for me the critical issues Hampton faces and convinced me of the opportunities for improved information to, and inclusion of, our townspeople as we address these issues.
