Scotland: 150 Years Festival


The 150th celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, with a day-long series of events.
At noon, local history buff Kevin Ring will lead a “Green Walk,” pointing out the develop ment of the properties surround ing the town green, located at the center of town at the intersection of routes 14 and 97.
Then, at 2 p.m., a parade will start from Bowers Park and pro ceed to the town green and then ceremonies will be held on the green.
A time capsule will be buried there. It is slated to be opened dur ing the town’s 200th anniversary half a century from now in 2057.
Food vendors will be on the green the rest of the afternoon, while a band plays in the gazebo from 4 to 8 p.m.
The day’s events will be com pleted with a fireworks display on Hanover Road over the Savino family cornfield.
