GRANGE RESTORATION UPDATE Thanks you to the thirty Hamptonites who patronized the Grange Restoration committee's Mother's Day flower sale!! We cleared nearly $500 for the work of restoring the grange building for use as a community center. Watch for us next year!! And please plan to come to the chicken barbecue at the Grange, after the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29. You may take out, or stay and enjoy it while you watch or participate in the Recreation Commission's softball, volleyball, shuffleboard and horseshoes tourneys. Canopies and tables provided, please bring a folding chair or a blanket. We'll serve until it's all gone, no reservations necessary. Two years ago we sold out, so don't come late!! We support the GrangeSubmitted by Grange Blog on Mon, 04/24/2006 - 7:20am.
The Hampton Democratic Committee fully supports efforts in our town to preserve and maintain historic and cultural sites in Hampton. The Hampton Grange is one of these worthy causes. To that end we have created a stand alone page on our web site to help spread the word. The Grange Committee is non-partisan and was created by the Hampton Town Selectman in the summer of 2005. It has no official association with the HDTC. We look forward to an open discussion of the many possible uses the Grange building could serve in our community. We also encourage you to volunteer your time and financial support to help bring about the building’s needed improvements. The following are announcements from the Grange Committee: Grange Blog's blog | 370 reads

Hampton Board of Education votes to withdraw from Central Office CommitteeSubmitted by Gay Wagner on Thu, 04/06/2006 - 4:15pm.
Hampton's BOE has voted to withdraw from the COC, principally because of concern for the COC's inability to keep proper financial records and provide the four BOEs it serves with accurate budget figures. For the third year, the annual audit has been delayed for three and now four months, because the CPA firm in charge of the audit has not received reconcilable figures from the COC business office. These events threaten the town's bond and credit ratings, and require the town to file state reports explaining the problems and proposing a plan to rectify the problems.
