...common
sense and fiscal responsibility
to measure every decision...

During the 2 years I have served on the Board of Selectmen with Maurice Bisson, we have built a strong working relationship based on trust and understanding. At his request, I regularly attend many committee, commission, and board meetings. It is my hope that we can continue working together to move existing initiatives forward. Some of these include: building the town garage, getting road repair 'back on track', installing solar panels to power all town-owned buildings, and managing a more cost-effective transfer station.

I also want to continue to help bring a forward-thinking vision to managing and financing town projects to have low -- or no -- impact on the environment.
Most of us who moved to Hampton within the last 25 years did so because
we treasure the rural lifestyle in this "Quiet Corner' of Connecticut. It is my personal and political commitment to help preserve that treasure.

As Selectman, I am your representative (regardless of your Party affiliation). I have always used common sense and fiscal responsibility to measure every decision I have made on your behalf. I intend to continue this practice because I honestly believe that you deserve nothing short of my best efforts.

...effective
two way communication
is the key...

My 33 years in Health Administration and Community Service, including "Leadership Warwick", a program designed to prepare community leaders, have prepared me with experience in finance, leadership, project management and communication. Now that I have retired from that career, I want to bring these skills to the Board of Selectman. Working as a team using our diverse skills, we can build consensus and provide direction to address the critical issues facing us over the coming years.

...communicate
effectively with the community,
and work as a team toward the common goal...

I believe that is important for the Board of Education to make students their first priority, communicate effectively with the community, and work as a team toward the common goal of providing high quality cost efficient instruction and educational experiences for all of our children.

As a parent, teacher, past Board of Education member and current Co-Chair of the Hampton-Scotland School Readiness Council, I have the skills, experience, and perspective necessary to do the job.

...a positive
educational experience
for our students...

My name is Daniel Savino, Democratic candidate for the Hampton BOE. I have lived in this area my entire life, the past ten years in Hampton. I am very aware of the issues surrounding our town, region 11 and Hampton Elementary School and I am very invested in the future of our town and our children.

If elected, I will listen to others with respect and an open mind as we all strive to provide a positive educational experience for our students while balancing fiscal responsibility. I welcome the opportunity to serve my community.

...respect
for the role and responsibility
of the school board...

My first term on the Board was for two years and it was an extremely valuable learning experience for me. I have gained an even greater appreciation and respect for the role and responsibility of the school board over time and this has informed both my positions as board member and educator.

I believe I am able to bring a special set of skills to the position: knowledge of elementary education, BOE experience, open-mindedness, and the belief that a good education is the most important investment we can make for our children.

...accountable
and
friendly service...

A fifteen-year resident of Hampton with a Master's Degree in Organizational Management, I bring to the table over 25 years of administrative, written and people skills in diverse and incrementally challenging settings. I offer the citizens of Hampton accountable and friendly service, as well as additional Town Clerk office hours without a request for additional compensation.

...experience
in roadway planning
local zoning and property usage...

My name is Wayne DeCarli and I live on Old Kings Highway. I have been a resident of Hampton since 1993.

I am retired from the Connecticut Department of Transportation after 34 years of service. I worked in the Bureau of Policy and Planning for my entire career there. I started out as a cartographer (map maker) and eventually moved into the engineering, Location Planning office.

I have experience in roadway planning and design, local zoning, and property usage potential as related to roadway location.

Ed's statement will follow soon.

...the
value of cooperation
and teamwork...

Excluding my college days, I have lived within this district all of my life and graduated from Parish Hill High School. My previous work experience taught me the value of cooperation and teamwork and staying at home with my two children has taught me the value of compromise. I enjoy learning new processes and getting to know the people of Hampton and I appreciate your consideration in this election.

...make
careful and
reasonable judgments...

Scott DeShong is a professor and program administrator at Quinebaug Valley Community College. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Fletcher Memorial Library. He believes that his ability to make careful and reasonable judgments, coupled with his commitment to fairness, make him well suited for a seat on the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals.

...the ZBA
must function in a fair
and open way...

It has been a privilege to serve my Hampton neighbors on the Zoning Board of Appeals and I am honored to
have been nominated for a second term. A lifelong
resident of eastern Connecticut, UConn graduate, and
local pharmacist, I am committed to our town. The
Zoning Board of Appeals must function in a fair and
open way to insure the best possible future for Hampton.

Jeff is running for his second term as constable. Jeff and wife Connie moved from Windham Center to their North Bigelow home in 1996 for the peace of the quiet countryside. When not working at Eastern Connecticut State University as a Senior Automotive Technician, Jeff enjoys boating, fishing, and hunting. He looks forward to again serving the Town.

In the spirit of the most qualified candidates for the position the following Candidates received the endorsement of the Democratic Caucus.

We urge you to vote for them as well.
