The principle of "Open Government" is important to the Democratic Party and we will try to provide an agenda to every meeting on our calendar in advance, so you know what is happening in your town. We hope this public service will support and promote healthy discussion around important issues facing our community. Most importantly, please consider sitting on one of the many boards or commissions that allow this town to function. Whether you can afford the time commitment or not, we can always use your ideas and expertise. Regardless of your political affiliation, we welcome your insights, opinions or desires for what you want this town to be and to become. CT Presidential Poll: Obama ahead by 21 points. Senator Lieberman would be drag on GOP ticket.A just released Quinnipiac University Poll shows Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama [IL] "Crushing" GOP Presidential Candidate Sen. John McCain [AZ] if the election were held today. "Illinois Sen. Barack Obama crushes Arizona Sen. John McCain 56 - 35 percent among Connecticut likely voters, topping the Republican among every sub-group except Republican voters." according to a Quinnipiac University poll. A look at the Hampton Primary results show that if the combined party votes were transfered to a preference for the Party nominee the result would be 66% for Obama and 34% for McCain. This result may be different when unaffiliated voters are factored in. Unaffiliated voters did not have the opportunity to show a preference on Primary day. Democratic Voter turnout outnumbered Republicans 2:1 in this election. Will it be the same in November? Time will tell. Link to poll below the fold. read more | 23 reads

Charter Cable Snooping on Hampton Residents?Reposted from CTNEWSJUNKIE.COM Blumenthal Tells Internet Company to Stop Snooping Attorney General Richard Blumenthal called on Charter Communications, an Internet Service Provider and Cable company, to suspend “its potentially illegal practice of tracking and sharing its customers’ Internet activities with third-party advertisers.” Charter Communications has called it’s new pilot program an enhancement. But Newtown resident Matt Perrillo, said if he wants to opt out he has to disclose personal information. To add insult to injury, he can only opt out of receiving the advertisements.
